Background:
Connect School is working with the teachers & staff in St Aidan’s Community School, Brookfield, Tallaght to develop student centred technology. Connect School is an initiative of South Dublin County Council in partnership with St. Aidan's School.

The aim of the project is to improve the educational outcomes of our students through investment in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Education. The delivery of education to the students of St. Aidan's is enhanced through ICT-enabled classrooms and the use ICT on a daily basis.
Progress to Date:
Laptops were rolled out to the teachers of St. Aidan's at the outset of the Connect School Project in May 2006. Since then the Teachers have been upskilling in their use and developing a Virtual Learning Environment using Moodle.
In February 2007 laptops were rolled out to all 1st years for use throughout their school career. Laptops will also be delivered to all current 1st year students.
In order to fully exploit the Internet as a learning resource and other ICT resources for education, a wireless network was installed throughout the school and Data Projectors were installed in all Classrooms. The School has invested in a number of digital cameras and Smartboards.
A Core Group of Teachers with high ICT Skills was initially identified through an ICT audit and this group leads the project within the School and develops and delivers the Training Program to their colleagues. The success of this Peer-to-Peer learning approach has been key to the success of the project to date.
The Connect School Project was officially launched by Minister Mary Hanafin, Department of Education and Science in April 2007. Visit our Image Gallery for photos of the event.
